Position Overview
We seek an accomplished individual with a Master of Science in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Climate Sciences, Earth Sciences, or Quaternary Sciences, specializing in sedimentary palaeo sciences and/or vegetation ecology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct labor-intensive microscopic and laboratory analyses, including studies of pollen, macrofossils, and aDNA.
- Engage in 2-3 months of field work in Mediterranean environments, focusing on core and data collection.
Qualifications
- A completed Master of Science in a relevant field.
- Specialization in sedimentary palaeo sciences and/or vegetation ecology is essential.
- Knowledge of Greek and/or Italian language is advantageous.
Academic Environment
The candidate will be enrolled in the Graduate School of Climate Sciences, with the PhD awarded by the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Bern.
Compensation and Duration
The position commences on 1 January 2026. The gross yearly salary aligns with Swiss standards for doctoral students, ranging from 47,000 to 55,000 CHF, depending on the duration of employment. The maximum duration is four years.
