Project Overview
The Ocean Modelling Group and Atmospheric Dynamics Group within the Climate and Environmental Physics Division are embarking on an exciting journey in Earth system modeling. This project delves into the climate and biogeochemical responses to large-scale catastrophic events. As a key member of the newly established National Competence Centre in Research NCCR GENESIS, you will be pivotal in exploring the emergence of life in the Universe through innovative research.
Your Responsibilities
- Investigate the impact of extreme perturbations on the Earth system, such as volcanic eruptions and meteorite impacts.
- Design and execute targeted climate simulations across different Earth system configurations.
- Utilize the GFDL ESM to simulate the dynamics of climate and carbon cycles.
- Present findings at national and international scientific conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with:
- A Master’s degree in climate science, physics, oceanography, atmospheric dynamics, Earth sciences, or a related field.
- Experience in climate modeling, programming, and large dataset analysis.
- Knowledge of climate systems and global biogeochemical cycles.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
