About House of Gentle Arts

House of Gentle Arts is a network of multiple gyms located in Zurich, dedicated to offering high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) instruction. As an organization aligned with the Swiss Ministry of Sports, we actively collaborate with the city of Zurich to serve a diverse community of adults and children, from recreational practitioners to competitive athletes.

Our ambition is to expand and build a network of elite academies, recognized for our world-class curriculum, exceptional teaching methodologies, and a positive, growth-oriented culture. We are in search of a top-level technical leader to drive this expansion and enhance our professionalism, particularly in the development of our youth programs.

Position Summary

We are looking for a visionary leader with proven experience in directing high-performance teams who will head the program at our main unit in Zurich. This individual will be responsible for designing the BJJ structure for our future academies and ensuring excellence in instruction, instructor development, and athlete training across all units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and develop instructors: Create a coach development program that includes mentorship and ongoing training, ensuring all instructors adhere to a unified technical and pedagogical standard.
  • Develop a scalable technical and pedagogical program: Serve children, recreational practitioners, and high-performance athletes with standardized quality and a replicable teaching philosophy across the network.
  • Lead instruction in Zurich: Teach key classes and serve as the technical reference for the coaching staff while delivering internal and external technical events to enhance the network’s culture.
  • Establish quality control mechanisms: Create evaluation and monitoring systems to guarantee the effective execution of programs in every unit.
  • Support network expansion: Collaborate with management to implement the technical structure in new academies and develop strategies for scaling the business, along with diversifying revenue streams.
  • Lead the competition team: Develop and oversee the network’s competition program, focusing on producing top-tier athletes.
  • Represent the brand: Act as an ambassador for House of Gentle Arts within the national and international BJJ community.

Required Qualifications

  • Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a robust competitive background in high-level tournaments (Gi and No-Gi).
  • At least 7 years of coaching experience with a proven track record of developing champions and leading successful teams.
  • Experienced in competitive, recreational, and children's programs.
  • Knowledge in structuring scalable technical and pedagogical curriculums.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and inspire other instructors.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English (required).
  • A passion for teaching, personal development, and building an enduring legacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a head coach or technical director in a large academy or network.
  • Experience with the expansion and standardization of sports or educational programs.
  • Functional knowledge of German and Portuguese is advantageous.
