Research Assistant Opportunity in International Political Economy and Environmental Politics
The International Political Economy and Environmental Politics group is seeking an engaged individual to support ongoing longitudinal survey data collection projects as part of the Swiss Mobility Panel. This initiative aims to explore public opinion dynamics related to environmental issues and mobility preferences in Switzerland, as well as their intersections with other policy areas.
Responsibilities
- Program surveys using Qualtrics.
- Create comprehensive documentation including questionnaires, codebooks, and technical reports.
- Assist teams in data analysis and reporting for external stakeholders such as SBB and AMAG.
- Maintain a custom-made R package and provide support to research teams.
- Support panel management tasks, including data cleaning and data storage.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and German.
- Proficient programming skills in R.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program at a Swiss university.
Desirable Skills
- Strong command of R Markdown and LaTeX.
- Prior experience with Qualtrics.
- Willingness to further develop skills in R and Qualtrics, including programming and analysis of spatial data.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in French and/or Italian.
- Interest in public opinion research and environmental politics.
Working Environment
This role offers the chance to deepen understanding of survey methodology and environmental politics. Collaboration will primarily be with panel survey members, including fellow research assistants. Working hours are flexible, with the exception of regular team meetings. Compensation follows ETH guidelines at a rate of 30.00 CHF per hour.
