Overview

Located in Basel, Switzerland, the Immunogenicity and Mechanistic Immunology team within the Biologics Research Center (BRC) is focused on exploring molecular and immunological mechanisms to advance the discovery and optimization of biotherapeutics and innovative therapeutic modalities targeting oncology and autoimmune diseases. This opportunity invites collaboration with a driven and talented scientist to contribute to various pivotal research initiatives.

Position Highlights

This role offers an engaging and collaborative environment fostering groundbreaking research that propels the development of novel biotherapeutics. Candidates are sought at the Research Scientist level, although those with Senior Scientist experience may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, conduct, and independently perform immunological, cellular, and biochemical assays for biotherapeutic functionality and characterization.
  • Develop novel assays or analytic tools tailored to project needs across diverse therapeutic areas.
  • Perform complex assays using human primary immune cells and execute multicolor flow cytometry (FACS) and functional immunological testing.
  • Formulate hypotheses, design experiments, analyze results critically, and prioritize follow-up studies based on findings.
  • Collaborate closely with Immunogenicity and Mechanistic Immunology teams, and cross-functional partners within the BRC.
  • Communicate findings effectively by presenting results to lab heads and project teams and contributing to protocol and report creation.
  • Oversee laboratory maintenance, managing technical equipment, reagents, and consumables.
  • Stay updated on scientific and technical advancements through literature reviews.

Essential Requirements

  • BS/MSc in Life Sciences, preferably in immunology or cell biology, with a background in human immunology from academic or industry settings.
  • Extensive expertise in multicolor flow cytometry; experience with cell sorting is advantageous.
  • Experience in a biosafety level 2 (BL2) environment, including isolation and handling of primary immune cells.
  • A strong foundation in human immunology and cell biology.
  • Scientific curiosity, initiative, and adaptability with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, complemented by strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Fluency in English.

Desirable Requirements

  • Familiarity with sample management governance.
  • Proven ability to develop new assays and techniques, showcasing an aptitude for adopting innovative methods.
