Professional Opportunity in Finance within Sustainability

We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic individual to join a global FMCG team, located in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland. This role requires extensive experience in finance with a strong emphasis on sustainability initiatives, particularly in African markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a critical finance partner for sustainability activities in African countries, ensuring that financial strategies are adapted to local contexts and support customer programs and traceability efforts.
  • Take the lead on all Sustainability Profit and Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet matters, focusing on driving automation and enhancing efficiency within sustainability finance.
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards in traceability systems.
  • Oversee finance-related functions for the company’s foundation, including actuals, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on customer projects, while ensuring that pricing and financial ratios align with local market dynamics and sustainability objectives.
  • Collaborate with local finance and operations teams in Africa for accurate costing and reporting of sustainability activities.
  • Utilize regional insights to address risks associated with customer claims and program delivery.
  • Lead the transformation of accounting and reporting systems, applying SAP EDP knowledge to ensure compatibility and accurate capture of specific activities.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the Center of Excellence (COE) at headquarters on sustainability accounting topics, ensuring that regional practices are integrated into global standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 8 years of finance experience with a strong focus on business partnering and Financial Planning & Analysis.
  • At least 8 years working with branches in Africa on sustainability accounting matters.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing local financial processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Exceptional cross-cultural competence with the ability to communicate efficiently with international stakeholders, global partners, and local teams in southern Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory frameworks such as EUDR and a solid understanding of their implications for traceability and compliance.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP EDP systems.
  • In-depth understanding of sustainability practices and product dynamics.
  • Proficiency in English is required; business fluency in French is essential.
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities and the ability to influence decision-making across various teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
