The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated professional to join our team. This role presents a unique chance to enhance individuals' flourishing globally through collaboration with organizations that work to remove barriers to human flourishing and promote free speech. You will report directly to the Managing Director of Freedom in Practice and manage a portfolio of approximately 15-20 grants within the Freedom in Practice funding program. The position is office-based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of Funding Areas: Collaborate with the Managing Director of Freedom in Practice to develop and expand the Removing Barriers & Free Speech funding areas.
  • Grant Selection & Due Diligence: Contribute to the grant selection process and conduct due diligence for applications. Prepare relevant content and presentations for board meetings.
  • Grant Portfolio Management: Oversee approved grants throughout their award period, ensuring alignment with the RISING TIDE mission to promote freedom and prosperity globally.
  • Monitoring & Program Evaluation: Build close relationships with grantees and conduct site visits to enhance understanding of successful strategies and areas for improvement.
  • External Representation: Represent RISING TIDE at conferences and events.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the strategic direction of funding programs and refine annual strategic plans and corresponding budgets for board approval.
  • Community Building Activities: Lead and support community-building events, both online and in person, and create platforms to facilitate connections.
  • Communication: Handle communication tasks for the Freedom in Practice team.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven success in grant management or non-profit management.
  • Mission Alignment: A deep understanding and commitment to classical liberal principles and their role in fostering a free society.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Proven ability to identify and implement classical liberal principles in real-world applications, specifically in areas that enhance human flourishing and free speech.
  • Networking: A robust international network of social entrepreneurs, universities, think tanks, NGOs, and potential grantees.
  • Interpersonal Skills: High emotional intelligence and the ability to form lasting relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Process Acumen: Detail-oriented and process-focused, with a readiness to improve grant management processes.
  • Nimbleness and Agility: Ability to act swiftly, respond to opportunities, and initiate projects, while embracing ideas that challenge the status quo.
  • Personality & Leadership: A proactive, communicative individual with a strong team spirit and a high level of professionalism, initiative, and reliability.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, with German and additional languages as a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailored for various audiences.
