Senior Java Developer (Distributed Financial Systems)

Architecting High-Availability Financial Platforms

Join a global team spanning Zurich and Singapore to design and operate high-availability backend services for investment platforms. This role offers the opportunity to shape a strategic platform from an early stage, helping to build a new channel that connects investment capabilities to external clients through e-banking.

Key Responsibilities

• Design distributed systems that balance scalability, latency, consistency, and fault tolerance, applying idempotency, back pressure, and resilience patterns to financial workloads.
• Build and maintain Java, Spring, and Spring Boot services and APIs, while optimizing asynchronous processing, I/O, and end-to-end performance.
• Develop reliable integration and messaging flows using relational databases, JPA, JDBC, and JMS, ensuring data integrity, security, and auditability.
• Investigate bottlenecks through profiling, benchmarks, and load tests, owning solutions from design through deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with product and technology colleagues on the client channel, contributing to reviews, testing, CI/CD, and controlled delivery.

Required Skills and Experience

• Senior-level Java experience, including Core Java, Collections, JSON, and JDBC, with strong Spring Framework and Spring Boot skills.
• Proven distributed systems and microservices experience, including event-driven design and low-latency, high-availability services.
• Practical knowledge of relational databases, JPA, JMS, Unix or Linux, and bash scripting, plus OAuth2, API security, and IAM concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (ideally Azure), Docker, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices; financial sector experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ownership, sound judgment, and a collaborative approach within a global agile team.
