Your Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the bottom unit development for performance products.
- Provide solutions to design and construction challenges using expertise in materials, mold construction, and manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate and enhance product designs for manufacturability and durability by reviewing 2D/3D CADs, prototypes, and feedback from testing teams.
- Ensure product specifications align with manufacturing capabilities.
- Utilize knowledge of plastics injection molding to advise on cost, design, and capabilities of injected components.
- Collaborate with Asian counterparts and support tooling teams on revisions and manufacturing issues.
- Assist development, product management, and design teams with tooling-related inquiries.
- Assess current workflows and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and testing advancements.
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in footwear engineering, particularly in tooling development.
- Strong technical knowledge of materials, mold construction, and manufacturing processes relevant to footwear.
- In-depth understanding of plastics injection molding principles, including cost, design, and capabilities of injected components.
- Experience working with 2D and 3D CADs, with proficiency in evaluating for manufacturability and durability.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling and rapid prototyping tools.
- Demonstrated project management experience and ability to provide solutions within complex parameters.
- Experience with biomechanical performance principles as they relate to footwear bottom unit design.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with designers, developers, and testing teams.
- Experience engaging with international manufacturing partners on tooling revisions and manufacturing concerns.
- Effective communication skills to deliver clear guidance and technical support to various stakeholders.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to Asia at least twice a year.
