A seasoned commercial leader in the pharmaceutical industry is sought to lead the Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal Franchise at a premier healthcare organization. This role requires a deep understanding of the drug development value chain and a passion for driving go-to-market innovation, alongside a proven track record of successful product launches that meet significant unmet patient needs.

The Rare Disease unit operates under a renowned global healthcare company, committed to combating rare blood and endocrine disorders. This unit focuses on scientific advancements, expanding access to medications, and striving toward disease prevention and eventual cures. With operations across 14 international sites, the organization is dedicated to bringing essential products to over 100 countries, backed by a robust development pipeline. The commercial unit, based in Zurich, Switzerland, comprises around 100 passionate individuals collaborating closely with the broader organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and refine strategies for the Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal therapy area, aligning with the organization’s overall strategies.
  • Drive portfolio growth through new launches and lifecycle management (LCM) initiatives.
  • Oversee global commercial launch preparations and market strategies for innovative assets addressing Haemato-Renal disorders.
  • Maximize portfolio value and ensure accountability for project progress aligned with governance boards.
  • Manage a small, dedicated team, fostering cross-functional collaboration with medical, business development, and clinical development professionals.
  • Develop a high-performing organization that supports the commercial agenda of Rare Endocrine and Haemato-Renal.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively execute strategies.
  • Identify and leverage long-term organic growth opportunities and explore business development prospects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a background in a large pharmaceutical company or biotech, with 15+ years of experience in commercial marketing and operations, ideally across both affiliate and global roles. Additional qualifications include:

  • Expertise in portfolio and therapy area leadership, ensuring successful asset management and launches.
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, matrixed organizations and build high-performing teams.
  • Thorough understanding of the drug development value chain and collaboration across medical, scientific, and market functions.
  • Extensive experience in global marketing and promotional strategy execution across diverse therapeutic areas, particularly rare diseases.
  • P&L and general management experience, preferably in affiliate or market roles.
  • A strong global mindset with the ability to influence outcomes in multifaceted environments.
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field.
