The Role

The Vice President of Communications & Corporate Affairs for Novo Nordisk Rare Disease plays an essential role in the leadership team, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Rare Disease. This position oversees a diverse and high-performing communications team of 15 dedicated employees, responsible for shaping and driving communication strategies that align with the strategic objectives of Novo Nordisk Rare Disease.

Key Responsibilities

  • Public Affairs and External Communications:
    • Develop and execute strategic external affairs plans addressing advocacy, public policy, and business issues.
    • Shape and implement sustainability strategies for the Rare Disease portfolio.
    • Plan and execute external communication strategies that align with Rare Disease and Novo Nordisk corporate strategies.
    • Oversee media, patient advocacy, and public affairs strategy, managing social channels and websites.
  • Internal Communications and Engagement:
    • Ensure timely and professional internal communication regarding Rare Disease ambitions and priorities.
    • Provide tools and support for leadership on employee communication and events.
    • Drive internal communications for key initiatives.
    • Collaborate with internal partners to enhance the Rare Disease story through synergies.
    • Maintain professional internal communication channels within the Rare Disease office.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Set strategic directions for congresses and events, ensuring a seamless attendee experience.

This position is located in Zurich, Switzerland, and international talent relocation is supported.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is an accomplished leader in corporate affairs, preferably within the multi-national pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors. The qualifications include:

  • 15+ years of experience in global communication and advocacy.
  • 5+ years in leadership roles with a history of building high-performing communications teams.
  • Experience in developing and implementing global public affairs and patient advocacy strategies.
  • Proven track record in providing strategic communication counsel to senior management.
  • Prior experience within rare diseases, particularly in launch and pre-launch communication.
  • Strong network with global policymakers and knowledge of public/government affairs.
  • Innovative communication approaches with awareness of emerging trends and technologies.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence in complex matrix organizations.
