We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated individual who embraces innovative pedagogical practices and has a passion for teaching Chemistry at both MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. This role is designed for a Chemistry specialist who is adept at balancing teaching responsibilities with leadership roles, catering to the evolving needs of our educational community.
Main Responsibilities
- Teach across a diverse age and ability range, customizing lessons to meet individual student needs.
- Engage in the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and enhance personal teaching practices.
- Commit to safeguarding the welfare of all young people.
- Manage subject-related administrative tasks and actively participate in department meetings.
- Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parent meetings as necessary.
- Uphold exceptional health and safety standards within the Science Department.
- Oversee the management of Science stock, ensuring compliance with CLEAPSS protocols for safe material storage and disposal.
Ideal Attributes
- A dedicated educator focused on continuous improvement, embodying the principles of the IB Learner Profile.
- Previous experience in leading a Science Department, particularly within an IBDP framework.
- A good honours degree and/or further qualifications in a directly-related subject area.
- Commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- A genuine passion for Chemistry and the ability to inspire and engage students.
- Willingness to embrace innovative teaching developments and experiment with new approaches.
- Ability to supervise students working on the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay, as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
