Context & Mission

Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization dedicated to providing care to people in need, regardless of race, religion, creed, or political affiliation.

The MSF movement consists of five operational centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is among these centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Development and Retention:
    • Facilitate onboarding sessions for new recruits.
    • Conduct debriefs for staff after assignments to gather feedback and identify disengagement signals.
    • Encourage staff to reflect on their career aspirations and areas for development.
    • Collaborate with Pool Managers to share further job opportunities within MSF.
  • HR Promotion:
    • Identify employees with strong communication skills and support their involvement in institutional communication initiatives.
    • Create an internal ambassador pool to promote MSF values.
    • Develop HR marketing initiatives specific to Switzerland.
    • Collaborate with the Communication & Fundraising team on joint projects.
  • Staff Engagement and Well-being:
    • Maintain regular contact with Swiss and Switzerland-based staff, fostering a climate of trust and recognition.
    • Organize HR exchange spaces to encourage engagement and sharing of experiences.
    • Produce and disseminate newsletters to promote internal communications and thematic campaigns.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate with HQ HR to share opportunities with Swiss staff.
    • Participate in weekly team meetings and contribute to HR department meetings.
    • Provide back-up support for the Field Recruitment team assistant.
    • Travel frequently within Switzerland, including visits to the Geneva office.

Profile Needed

Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years of field experience with MSF.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German (preferably Swiss German), and proficiency in French and English is an asset.
  • Experience with social media and website presence.
  • Good understanding of internal communication and employee engagement.
  • Interest or experience in event facilitation.

Personal Qualities:

  • Empathy and strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Coaching attitude; coaching skills are an advantage.
  • Proactive, culturally sensitive, and adaptable.
  • Discreet with a strong understanding of HR confidentiality.
  • Skills or interest in communications, storytelling, or photography/video.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position (40h/week).
  • Open-ended contract.
  • Location: Zurich, Switzerland.
  • Gross annual salary: from CHF 87,372 to CHF 100,608, based on experience.
  • 25 days of paid vacation per year, in addition to public holidays.
  • Pension contributions covered 75% by MSF and 25% by the employee.
  • Relocation support available for eligible candidates.
