Role Overview
The position involves the strategic design and optimization of the company’s supply chain network, particularly with regard to manufacturing and logistics. Emphasis is placed on long-term planning while maintaining strong connections to mid-term strategies. The goal is to enhance resilience, cost efficiency, and agility within the supply chain. Utilizing data analytics, forecasting models, and simulation tools is essential for aligning the network with changing business needs, market trends, and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply Chain Network Design & Optimization
- Develop and refine comprehensive supply chain network strategies to support long-term business growth and operational efficiency.
- Optimize manufacturing locations, warehouse sites, and distribution centers for agile and cost-effective operations.
- Employ data analytics and modeling tools to simulate network scenarios and initiate improvements.
- Evaluate production and distribution sites to enhance network resilience and achieve sustainability goals.
- Scenario Management & Mid-Term Planning
- Facilitate the execution of scenario planning to gauge the impact of market fluctuations and potential disruptions.
- Develop "what-if" simulations to assess potential shifts in sourcing, capacity, and transport models.
- Align mid-term planning with financial forecasts, inventory strategies, and capital investment decisions.
- Collaborate across finance and operations to ensure scenario recommendations align with cost and service objectives.
- Capacity Planning & Forecasting
- Analyze production capacities and logistical constraints to inform future network requirements.
- Forecast manufacturing and distribution capacity needs to preempt bottlenecks and maintain supply chain agility.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to align supply chain strategies with overall business goals.
- Lead network impact assessments and offer recommendations for value chain management.
- Logistics & Transportation Strategy
- Collaborate with logistics to design an efficient network aimed at enhancing transport efficiency while reducing costs and environmental impact.
- Cost & Efficiency Management
- Identify cost reduction opportunities across sourcing, production, and distribution without sacrificing service quality.
- Champion inventory optimization initiatives to lower working capital while ensuring product availability.
- Technology & Process Improvement
- Employ digital tools, AI, and automation to enhance supply chain visibility and informed decision-making.
- Implement network design software and optimize route planning through advanced analytics.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in supply chain management.
- Develop digital tools and processes for sustainable governance within network strategy assessments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with procurement, operations, finance, and logistics teams to ensure alignment on network strategies.
- Support sustainable initiatives by streamlining operations for reduced carbon emissions and waste.
- Prepare and present network optimization plans to senior leadership.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues regarding network assessment methodologies and processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in supply chain network planning and logistics optimization.
- Strong analytical capabilities and expertise in supply chain modeling tools.
- Proficient in scenario planning and simulation techniques.
- Experienced with data analytics tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python) for supply chain performance analysis.
- Understanding of global supply chain dynamics, trade regulations, and risk management.
- Exceptional project management skills with an aptitude for leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- Familiar with sustainability practices in supply chain optimization.
- Six Sigma or Lean Supply Chain certification is an advantage.
