Your Role and Responsibilities

This pivotal position within our Global Medical Affairs Leadership team presents an opportunity to leave a meaningful legacy for individuals affected by blood rare diseases (hemoglobinopathy). You will empower and inspire your team to drive medical strategy and enhance stakeholder engagement in this rapidly evolving field.

  • Ensure team members design and implement a comprehensive medical strategy aligned with business objectives, patient needs, and compliance standards.
  • Provide strategic insights into commercial and portfolio strategy, product development, and establish standards for robust strategic input by medical directors at a product level.
  • Be accountable for evidence strategy and drive data generation through strong collaboration between medical affairs, the evidence generation team, and healthcare professionals.
  • Lead medical education initiatives and enhance scientific thought leadership through effective KOL engagement across diverse medical communication channels.
  • Inspire and develop a high-performing team, fostering excellence in medical affairs capabilities and maintaining cutting-edge competencies.
  • Drive superior execution of medical activities and pre-launch performance across the global organization and key market affiliates.
  • Serve as a representative of Medical Affairs in cross-functional teams and scientific exchange forums, proactively anticipating business challenges and opportunities.

Your Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a bold, strategic thinker with extensive experience in medical affairs and a robust business acumen. This role demands a confident communicator and visionary leader who thrives in complex environments and is committed to advancing healthcare through scientific innovation and effective leadership.

  • A Medical (MD) or Pharmacy degree, or PhD with substantial experience in hematology or related areas in rare diseases.
  • Over 10 years of experience in medical affairs, including exposure to global, regional, or multi-country settings.
  • A proven track record in influential leadership, with the ability to build and lead high-performing collaborative teams.
  • Extensive experience creating business value through strategic planning, prioritization, scientific engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Fluency in English with the ability to navigate a global matrix environment and diverse cultural and scientific landscapes.
