Own the Technical Thread of Spacecraft Systems

Spacecraft are built by systems engineers who can trace a single design decision from concept through to a vehicle operating in orbit. This role requires an experienced professional to take ownership of the technical thread across a programme, leading requirements definition, design, integration, test, and verification and validation for the full space vehicle. If you view systems engineering as building spacecraft rather than producing paperwork, and possess the breadth to work across every subsystem, this opportunity is designed for you.

Core Responsibilities

  • Own the technical thread for spacecraft systems across concept development, trade studies, CONOPS definition, requirements decomposition and allocation, interface definition, and verification and validation.
  • Support integration, test, and on-orbit anomaly resolution.
  • Work across every subsystem team, applying model-based systems engineering techniques to define and integrate the spacecraft system.
  • Collaborate with programme and financial leadership to keep execution on track.
  • Mentor junior systems engineering and subsystem staff.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of systems engineering processes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science discipline with 5 or more years of directly relevant spacecraft systems experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 or more years.
  • For Level 4, 9 or more years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 7 or more years.
  • At least 1 year of experience across some or all of the following: space systems engineering principles, power, mass and other system budgets, requirements analysis and flow down, design verification and validation, configuration management, or satellite integration and test.
  • Comfortable working across multiple subsystems and coordinating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance required post-start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in aerospace or a related engineering or science discipline.
  • 9 or more years of professional experience in space systems engineering.
  • Direct experience with rapid spacecraft development programmes, ideally spanning concept through to in-orbit operations.
  • Familiarity with programme management principles and tools.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
