The Spatial AI Lab, a key component of Microsoft’s Applied Sciences Group, focuses on pioneering human-computer interaction technologies through advancements in AI, hardware, and device design. Our team of scientists and engineers specializes in a range of fields including computer vision, multimodal AI, spatial and embodied AI, robotics, and cloud services.

In this dynamic environment, you will engage in developing intelligent systems and experiences for emerging agents. Collaboration is key, as you will work with scientists, engineers, students, and external research partners on projects encompassing applied research, rapid prototyping, and product development. Your contributions may involve AI models, robotics, hardware and software integration, developer tools, as well as data and evaluation systems aimed at enhancing scalable product capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain software for intelligent systems, prototypes, and product experiences.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and students to transform research ideas and early prototypes into robust implementations.
  • Develop and integrate components related to multimodal AI, computer vision, spatial computing, embodied AI, robotics, data processing, simulation, or hardware integration.
  • Evaluate system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and enhance reliability, maintainability, and overall performance.
  • Apply modern engineering practices such as code reviews, automated testing, thorough documentation, and adherence to security and privacy guidelines alongside responsible AI principles.
  • Contribute effectively in a multidisciplinary environment with shifting goals and technical requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in software development using one or more programming languages, such as C++, C#, or Python.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and embrace the challenge of learning unfamiliar technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in relevant areas such as AI or machine learning, computer vision, robotics, simulation, spatial computing, embedded systems, or distributed systems.
  • Experience in integrating software with machine-learning models, sensors, devices, or other complex systems.
  • Proven track record of transitioning experimental or research-oriented software into reliable and maintainable implementations.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices and tools, including automated testing, continuous integration, debugging, profiling, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
  • Experience collaborating in research, academic, or multidisciplinary engineering settings.

Compensation

The typical base pay range for this role across Switzerland is CHF 119,200.00 - CHF 195,500.00 per year, with certain roles eligible for additional benefits and compensation. For further details on benefits and pay information, please refer to this link.
