Sensor Development Engineer (m/f/d)

Project Overview

Join a dynamic team focused on the development and optimization of electrochemical sensors for medical devices specializing in IVD diagnostics. This role involves working within the Technical Project Support Team of the Blood Gas Electrolytes (BGE) Sensor Development SubChapter, contributing to instruments essential for hospitals and testing laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Address product care topics within in-house Sensor Production, managing production issues and customer complaints.
• Implement changes based on fundamental principles and experimental data into new and existing products.
• Independently plan, execute, evaluate results, and document work across development and operations support.
• Test and analyze sensor designs using various characterization methods in a laboratory environment.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to generate necessary data and documentation.
• Develop new tools, methods, and processes for evaluating sensors.
• Provide scientific expertise to address complex technical questions in sensor development and production.
• Coordinate with various business units to support design and material changes.
• Support sensor development activities based on project needs and product care situations.

Qualifications

• Higher technical education (Master's or Bachelor's degree) in chemistry, physics, material science, or engineering, with relevant industry experience.
• Understanding of the material interactions with sensors and biological samples.
• Dedication to studying and improving electrochemical and optical sensors.
• Experience in a highly regulated environment.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing new characterization methods.
• Ability to acquire, process, and analyze data using tools like Matlab, Excel, or Python.
• Strong documentation skills with the ability to report findings at a high technical level.
• Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to ownership.
• Fluency in English is essential.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with various electrochemical methods and broader physical and chemical analysis.
• Proficiency in German.
• Prior experience in a production industry is advantageous.
