Your Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Drive the design and architecture of Command and Data Handling (C&DH) subsystems.
- Ensure subsystem designs meet mission requirements while balancing performance, power, mass, and cost constraints.
- Lead trade studies and make/buy analyses, manage interface control documents, and direct high-fidelity analyses across various technical domains.
- Resolve complex technical issues during integration and testing phases.
- Contribute to Failure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) strategies, offering technical expertise to mission operations.
- At the advanced level, shape the long-term technical roadmap for the C&DH group and mentor emerging engineers across multiple programs.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by 9 or more years of relevant experience.
- In-depth experience with spacecraft communication protocols including SpaceWire, Ethernet, RS-422/485, and LVDS.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in the design, analysis, and integration of spacecraft electrical hardware or complex avionics systems.
- US Person status is required, with US Citizenship necessary for clearance eligibility.
Distinguishing Factors
Exceptional candidates will have:
- 14 or more years of experience relevant to Level 5 roles.
- Prior experience as a Responsible Engineering Authority or Lead Engineer on complex space programs.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and Department of Defense cybersecurity practices for space assets.
- Experience working in high-rate manufacturing environments.
- An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant engineering discipline.
