Position Overview
This role presents a unique opportunity to influence the nexus of science and strategy within a leading organization. As part of the Quantitative Safety & Epidemiology Team, you will steer the global epidemiology direction across various oncology programs, playing a crucial role in shaping benefit-risk evaluations from development through to post-approval phases.
Role Location and Work Environment
Location: Basel, Switzerland
Working Model: Hybrid (12 days per month on-site)

Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement global oncology-focused epidemiological strategies throughout the full product lifecycle.
- Lead evidence generation and safety strategies to guide benefit-risk assessments, regulatory submissions, and post-approval obligations.
- Act as a senior scientific leader within cross-functional teams, influencing key global program and safety management decisions.
- Represent epidemiology in critical interactions with health authorities, advisory committees, and regulatory discussions.
- Translate complex epidemiological data into actionable insights for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Design and oversee innovative approaches, including non-interventional studies and real-world evidence generation.
- Foster strategic partnerships with external researchers, data collaborators, and academic institutions.
- Ensure excellence in deliverables by maintaining quality, compliance, and adherence to regulatory and organizational standards.
- Lead and mentor junior epidemiologists, fostering the development of high-performance teams and enhancing scientific capabilities.
- Drive innovation by advancing cutting-edge epidemiological methods and spearheading global improvement initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in epidemiology, statistics, or health services research.
- 10-12 years of relevant experience in epidemiology within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, with adept scientific communication skills.
- Expertise in epidemiological principles and their application to drug development and safety assessment.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, conducting, and interpreting epidemiological studies and real-world evidence.
- Strong understanding of drug development processes and regulatory requirements, including interactions with health authorities.
- Proven leadership ability to influence strategy and decision-making in global, cross-functional environments.
- A strong innovation mindset with a proven track record of advancing methodologies, processes, or scientific approaches.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with oncology programs in the pharmaceuticals or healthcare sectors is preferred.
- Proficiency in an additional local language relevant to the location.
- A strong history of scientific publications and external engagement.
