Overview

In this role, you will evaluate the effects of pricing recommendations on vulnerable customers, ensure fair value, address conduct risk, uphold consumer duty, and adhere to comprehensive Solvency II governance requirements. You will also establish strong controls across pricing processes while proactively seeking opportunities for improving team workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the establishment of central pricing bases and agree on product terms across Income Protection, Group Life, Group Dependants, and Group Critical Illness products.
• Own and deliver pricing reviews, conduct annual experience investigations, and propose changes to pricing assumptions, ensuring appropriate peer and risk reviews are executed.
• Monitor emerging risk trends, along with new money rates, expenses, and cost of capital; recommend pricing adjustments to maintain a commercially robust approach within risk appetite.
• Play a pivotal role in pricing governance by preparing detailed reports and presenting recommendations to senior forums, including the Pricing Governance Group and Strategic Revenue Price Group.
• Collaborate with key partners across Financial Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing, and DT&T, aiding in the translation of pricing insights into actionable commercial decisions.

Qualifications and Skills

• A degree-level education, ideally 2:1 or above, in a discipline with significant mathematical or statistical content.
• Qualified actuary with substantial post-qualification experience, preferably within the life, health, or protection insurance sectors.
• Proven strong pricing experience, equipped with the technical capability to review assumptions, investigate experience, and offer sound recommendations in a complex commercial environment.
• Highly numerate and comfortable working with data and pricing models, confident in utilizing IT tools to support analysis and decision-making.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of producing clear, concise reports and delivering technical recommendations to senior audiences.
• Able to balance technical rigor with commercial judgment, effectively managing competing priorities and consistently delivering high-quality work under pressure.
