Summary
Located in Basel, Switzerland, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of xRNA therapeutics. We are looking for a passionate and experienced PhD-level scientist to lead the synthesis of mid to large-scale oligonucleotides and manage a dedicated team, enhancing our innovative siRNA therapies aimed at addressing significant medical needs.
About the Role
The principal responsibilities of this position encompass a variety of tasks, including:
- Planning and executing the synthesis, purification, and analysis of chemically modified oligonucleotides and conjugates.
- Overseeing a state-of-the-art oligonucleotide synthesis facility, with effective management of budgets.
- Leading and mentoring a team of scientists in oligonucleotide synthesis, purification, analysis, and downstream processing.
- Ensuring timely delivery of quality siRNA materials for in vitro screening and in vivo studies.
- Collaborating with discovery teams in Basel and Cambridge on oligonucleotide synthesis.
- Providing technical leadership to optimize methodologies for enhanced synthesis efficiency.
- Partnering with synthetic chemists to scale-up new siRNA chemistries.
- Documenting and communicating scientific findings to stakeholders through publications and patent applications.
- Mentoring and supporting team members with technical expertise and hands-on guidance.
- Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry focusing on oligonucleotide synthesis, with 2-3 years of relevant industry experience.
- A proven track record in mid to large-scale solid-phase synthesis and downstream processing.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in team development.
- The ability to foster and implement innovative ideas within a global team.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Effective management of multiple priorities while staying focused on key objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
