This position offers the opportunity to explore quantum localization and quantum glasses, while investigating the connections between them. The research will illuminate the complex spatial structures and excitation phenomena within advanced quantum systems.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in theoretical physics.
  • A strong interest in quantum physics, especially in the fields of condensed matter theory, quantum statistical physics, and possibly quantum information.
  • A proclivity for tackling technically and conceptually challenging problems.

Institutional Offerings

Our institution thrives on interdisciplinary collaboration and an innovative environment. We provide a structured on-the-job training experience, alongside opportunities for personal development in a nurturing vocational culture. Our modern employment policies and on-site infrastructure are designed to support a healthy work-life balance, accommodating personal interests and family commitments.

As a PhD student, you will be affiliated with the University of Zürich, while primarily based at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen.
