Investigating Additively Manufactured Alloys Through Neutron Imaging
Join an interdisciplinary, innovative, and dynamic team to explore the microstructure and mechanical properties of lightweight alloys produced via additive manufacturing. This role focuses on utilizing advanced neutron imaging and diffraction techniques to understand how crystallographic texture influences material performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate the texture of additively manufactured lightweight alloys using wavelength-resolved neutron imaging and correlate these findings with mechanical properties.
- Develop and apply texture tomography inverse problems to reconstruct the crystallographic texture of additive manufacturing components.
- Conduct neutron imaging and diffraction experiments on additive manufacturing specimens.
- Validate experimental results through electron microscopy and mechanical testing.
- Disseminate findings by publishing results in scientific journals and presenting at international conferences.
Required Profile
- Master's degree in materials science, materials physics, mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in experimental work, high motivation, and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent command of English.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python) and an interest in numerical methods, data analysis, or inverse problems are considered assets.
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing is an asset.
- Experience with neutron or X-ray diffraction and imaging techniques is an asset.
