Your Role
The muon electric dipole moment experiment, muEDM at PSI, is investigating potential signals of CP-violation beyond the Standard Model. As part of an international collaboration, your contributions will include:
- Collecting initial data on the storage, spin precession, and frozen-spin state of muons.
- Engaging in data analysis with a focus on the magnetic field aspects of the storage trap.
- Characterizing the magnetic field more extensively using specialized sensors and particle detectors.
- Enhancing the understanding of systematic effects and assisting in improving experimental sensitivity.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications:
- A Master's degree in physics, with a strong interest in low-energy particle physics.
- Familiarity with computational numerical methods, including Monte Carlo simulations, Python for data analysis, and finite element methods.
- Practical experience in experimental techniques, such as electronics, detectors, and data acquisition systems, is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Proficient in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of German or a willingness to learn is advantageous.
