Key Responsibilities

Pastoral Leadership

Lead the development and implementation of a relational, inclusive, and values-driven pastoral system aimed at ensuring that every student feels safe and supported. This role demands a commitment to fostering consistent adult behavior, utilizing restorative practices, and maintaining high expectations.

  • Establish a behavior system where adults model calm and respectful behavior.
  • Implement routines and responses with relentless consistency.
  • Prioritize relationships and adopt restorative conversations instead of punitive measures.
  • Utilize clear and predictable responses to behavior issues.

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape a school-wide pastoral vision rooted in relational practices.
  • Design and implement a behavior framework emphasizing relational principles.
  • Ensure all pastoral systems are simple, consistent, and understood by all.
  • Regularly assess pastoral impact through qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion

  • Ensure each student feels valued and supported.
  • Implement proactive wellbeing programs focused on belonging and resilience.
  • Promote inclusive practices reflecting our diverse school community.

Partnership with Families

  • Build trusting relationships with parents and carers.
  • Communicate behavioral and wellbeing issues effectively.
  • Engage families in understanding our relational approach to behavior.

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day pastoral operations ensuring clarity in practice.
  • Manage records with accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead responses to serious incidents with calm and fairness.

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective teaching to meet objectives and maximize teaching time.
  • Collaboratively plan an integrated, broad curriculum.
  • Monitor student work and provide constructive feedback consistently.
  • Facilitate a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Accountability and Progress

  • Report on pupil progress consistently to parents.
  • Motivate and engage students and staff to foster a collaborative environment.
