Role Overview
The primary focus of this position is to deliver holistic, evidence-based care tailored to an individual's needs in a positive, person-centered manner. Care will encompass various elements related to a diagnosis of dementia, age-related frailties, and any additional health co-morbidities that may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing, planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive care programs; providing advice and maintaining associated records, either manually or digitally.
- Carrying out nursing procedures in alignment with clinical guidelines.
- Providing clinical supervision to other staff members.
The selected individual will direct, coordinate, and supervise staff to promote best practices in dementia care. In the absence of the team leader, responsibilities will include ensuring effective delivery of care to the client, with any issues addressed to the line manager.
Essential Qualifications
- Swiss or EU passport or valid Swiss working permit.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or European/Swiss equivalent.
- Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Completion or willingness to undertake Best Practice in Dementia Training.
- Additional qualifications relevant to dementia care, including stress and distress training and meaningful activities.
- Understanding of the Newcastle Model and/or PINCHME model of behavior assessment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in dementia knowledge.
- Experience in End of Life Care and managing developing co-morbidities.
Additional Qualifications
- Moving and Handling Trainer certification.
- Experience in beauty or massage therapy.
- Expertise in facilitating meaningful activities.
Language Requirements
- Effective communication skills in English; ideally, English should be the first language.
- Excellent written communication in English.
- Ability to understand and communicate in the local dialect of Central Scotland.
Experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals diagnosed with dementia is required.

Specific Role Requirements
- Willingness to work a shift pattern based in Buckinghamshire, UK and Switzerland for extended periods (preferably 10-14 days).
- Availability for unsociable hours, including a sleepover arrangement alternating nights with another staff member.
- May involve accompanying the client to various venues as part of the position.
- Conducting oneself in a manner that reflects the social standing of the client.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality in line with NMC regulations and organizational policies, with a separate confidentiality agreement provided.
- Understanding the cultural aspects local to the client and family to minimize stressors related to dementia progression.
- Incorporation of housekeeping responsibilities as a key component of the role.
