Job Purpose and Impact

As a key player within Ocean Transportation, one of the world’s largest bulk charterers, you will play a vital role in facilitating global commodity shipping activities across the mineral, agricultural, and petroleum sectors. Your expertise will ensure the precise entry of Daily Position & PNL components, while delivering insightful financial analysis related to the Business Group’s activities. You will engage in profitability and month-end reporting, identify process improvements, contribute to effective data management and visualization, and respond to management requests as needed.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams both within the Business Group and across various locations, fostering a global network and exposure to different cultures and nationalities. Regular performance reviews will guide your professional growth, setting development goals that can lead to future senior positions or transitions into different departments or business groups.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform daily operational activities including trade confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and all trade life cycle events while ensuring compliance with internal and external deadlines.
  • Act as a key liaison with traders and other internal and external stakeholders to manage operational tasks, effectively communicate, and resolve operational issues.
  • Monitor and execute system processes, generate control reports, manage system feeds, oversee reference and static data, and conduct error analysis with appropriate remediation actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold internal control standards.
  • Contribute to process and system changes necessary for implementing new trade structures to support business growth.
  • Propose enhancements and improvements to processes and systems aimed at mitigating risks, reducing costs, and enhancing efficiency.
  • Independently address moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, referring more complex matters to relevant staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with exchange-listed futures, options, and over-the-counter cleared derivatives, alongside other relevant financial instruments within commodities.
  • Proficiency in leveraging financial and business systems to monitor activities and assist in decision-making.
  • Established knowledge of end-to-end trade flows and life cycles from trading to clearing and all post-trade activities.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the shipping industry or energy markets.
  • Technical familiarity with mark-to-market valuation and position modeling methodologies, including trading P&L calculations.
  • Strong IT literacy with demonstrated aptitude for learning systems, tools, and applications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Self-motivated individual who thrives both independently and within a team, taking full responsibility for tasks.
  • Dynamic, self-confident, enthusiastic, and proactive, capable of working effectively under pressure.
  • Experience with databases and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
