Position Overview
Join the esteemed team within the Directorate General of Health, associated with the Cantonal Medical Office. This role involves providing medical expertise as part of the Interdepartmental Cell (CIS 1) and contributing to the oversight of pediatric psychiatric cases at the cantonal level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver medical expertise within the Interdepartmental Cell (CIS 1) to propose projects and guidance for youths in difficulty within post-compulsory schooling structures.
- Conduct comprehensive medical, psycho-social assessments of youths facing challenges and provide insights and expert guidance to orientation network professionals regarding physical, mental, and social health of students referred to the Interdepartmental Cell.
- Ensure the quality of services provided by school physicians, especially in the realm of mental health, while collaborating with the responsible physician for health in the school environment as part of the Health Promotion and Prevention Unit (UPSPS).
- Support and advise physicians and educational institutions on mental health matters pertaining to children and adolescents.
- Address inquiries from school nurses and/or management of compulsory education, post-compulsory education, and specialized pedagogy related to mental health.
- Provide pediatric psychiatric expertise for the Early Encouragement Program and overall for the mental health cases of children and adolescents managed by the Directorate General of Health.
- Contribute to the implementation of the Strategic Health Promotion and Prevention Plan for children and adolescents (PSPEJ) within the scope of responsibility.
- Analyze and provide insights on mental health projects in accordance with PSPEJ guidelines.
Qualifications
- Federal medical diploma or an equivalent title, ideally complemented by a Master's in Public Health.
- FMH specialist title in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in pediatric psychiatry.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in the medical follow-up of children and/or adolescents and their families.
- Strong understanding of the health and education systems in the Canton of Vaud.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent analytical and synthesizing abilities.
- Decisive thinking, responsibility, and adherence to public service ethics.
- Strong communication skills and a spirit of teamwork and collaboration.
- Knowledge of AI structures and appropriate vocational training.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations.
