Position Overview
This role encompasses the comprehensive management of hotel operations onboard, with a strong focus on achieving maximum guest satisfaction and fostering a positive working environment for all crew members. Adherence to established operational standards and fiscal guidelines is paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire hotel operation onboard.
- Ensure all hotel departments are managed in alignment with established standards.
- Lead and motivate the crew, paying particular attention to Department Heads.
- Implement service procedures in accordance with company standards.
- Manage stock ordering for various hotel departments, including Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, and equipment.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness, hygiene, and order throughout all hotel areas, complying with HACCP regulations.
- Conduct final inspections and receive all supplies and deliveries for the hotel department.
- Supervise the opening and closing of the ship at the start and end of the season.
- Engage actively with guests and address any complaints effectively.
- Participate in onboard events and special functions.
- Be present in the galley and restaurant during meal times.
- Facilitate smooth communication with the nautical department, onboard management, crew, and the Head Office in Basel.
- Ensure departmental training is provided according to the required profile.
- Manage cost control measures and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Conduct daily analysis of debtors in coordination with the Receptionist/Night Auditor.
- Perform stock takes and inventories as per company procedures.
- Engage actively in loading procedures.
Qualifications
- Completed education within the hotel industry, preferably from a hotel management school.
- Extensive professional management experience in a similar role within the luxury hotel sector, ideally in the cruise industry.
- Exceptional management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Guest-focused, resilient under stress, calm in high-pressure situations, and a collaborative team player with a positive demeanor.
- Open-minded and adaptable with strong social and intercultural competencies, along with a solid understanding of Chinese culture and appropriate social etiquette.
- Proficient in Mandarin and possess good English language skills, both written and verbal; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., German) is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and proficient in computer skills.
