About the Initiative
The Manufacturing4X (M4X) Center is a groundbreaking initiative at ETH Zurich, positioned at the crossroads of advanced manufacturing, digital innovation, sustainability, and industrial collaboration. This center aims to serve as a pivotal hub for innovation within the Swiss manufacturing ecosystem, addressing vital industry challenges from AI integration and robotics to establishing sustainable production practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of strategies in collaboration with the Steering Committee and Center Director.
- Oversee operations of the center, focusing on finances, logistics, reporting, and growth initiatives.
- Develop and enhance collaborations with industry and academic institutions.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary research, teaching, and innovation projects.
- Promote the growth of membership programs, talent pipelines, and spin-off initiatives.
- Manage internal teams, ensuring effective functioning within the Management Office.
- Act as a representative for the Center at ETH Zurich, as well as to public and international stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
- A degree in engineering, natural sciences, management, or related fields (PhD preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing innovation or research centers, or strategic leadership in high-tech environments.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies, digitalization, and sustainability within industrial contexts.
- Proven team leadership, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strategic thinker with a strong technological vision.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in German is a strong asset.

- A robust network within the Swiss industry.
- Familiarity with the Swiss and European research landscape.
