Position Overview

Commencing from 1 January 2026, a rewarding opportunity awaits in Basel, Switzerland. This role operates under an 83% contract in an indefinite term, demanding commitment from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Core Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in Switzerland (Applicable for Swiss and EU nationals or current permit holders)

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will engage in essential duties, including:

  • Classroom Support:
    • Assist in delivering engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning needs.
    • Provide individual and small group support to enhance student participation and understanding.
    • Facilitate early literacy and numeracy growth through various interventions.
    • Manage classroom resources and materials effectively.
    • Encourage independence and responsibility among children.
    • Contribute to student assessment and tracking of Personalised Learning Plans.
  • Social and Emotional Support:
    • Nurture confidence and resilience in pupils through positive relationships.
    • Guide the development of social skills and positive behaviour in alignment with school policies.
    • Provide support during transitions, playtimes, and lunch breaks.
    • Address challenging behaviour constructively while adhering to school policies.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Engage with class teachers and staff to ensure cohesive student support.
    • Share observations and updates with parents and carers as necessary.
    • Participate in meetings and professional development events regularly.
    • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to safeguarding.
  • Resource Support:
    • Assist in organizing and maintaining classroom and learning environments.
    • Contribute to preparation and upkeep of educational materials.

Professional Development

Engagement in ongoing professional growth opportunities is encouraged, including annual safeguarding and first aid training.

Work Schedule

The position encompasses 42 hours weekly based on a full-time quota, with work hours between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM depending on scheduling.

Compensation

Compensation aligns with the Teaching Assistant pay scale, taking prior experience into account, with an additional functional allowance provided for curriculum responsibilities.
