About Us

The laboratory of Neuroepigenetics is part of the esteemed research community at the University Zürich (UZH) and ETH Zürich. We focus on fundamental research exploring how childhood experiences can influence the brain and body. Our work centers on adverse conditions such as traumatic stress and poor dietary habits, examining the cellular and molecular mechanisms related to health impacts on individuals and their descendants. Our team utilizes various experimental approaches, including mouse and cellular models, cloning, cell culture, imaging, behavioral testing, and bioinformatics, fostering close collaboration within our diverse group of researchers, doctoral and postdoctoral students, and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control stocks of chemicals and plasticware, including purchasing, stocking, and monitoring.
  • Oversee maintenance of basic lab equipment and machines, including regular checks, organization of repairs, and planning for equipment purchase and replacement.
  • Maintain comprehensive lists of reagents, such as antibodies, enzymes, and chemicals.
  • Organize and maintain fridges, freezers, liquid nitrogen tanks, cell culture hoods and incubators, centrifuges, etc.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, autoclaving, and maintenance of glassware.
  • Maintain operational hygiene of lab spaces, including disposal logistics and biohazards management.
  • Prepare common buffers and solutions as needed.
  • Act as the first responder to emergency notifications for lab freezers.
  • Collect and maintain lab documentation, including lab books, protocols, and research records.
  • Provide onboarding support for new lab members, including organizing workspace and delivering safety instructions.
  • Coordinate visits by external guests and participate in the organization of administrative tasks.
