Junior Cotton Trader

Position Overview

This role is integral to the trading team and serves as a foundational step towards becoming an adept trader. Individuals in this position will immerse themselves in the intricacies of cotton specifications and trading, preparing them to engage in buying or selling markets in the future. A blend of patience and strong team spirit is essential, coupled with the ability to absorb various business aspects.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn physical cotton specifications and their associated values.
• Understand and maintain accurate costings.
• Assist in executing trades in strict accordance with compliance and risk management guidelines.
• Monitor market movements and analyze data to identify potential trading opportunities.
• Support senior traders in developing and implementing innovative trading strategies and exploring new channels.
• Maintain precise records of trades, covering both physical and derivatives.
• Collaborate with the trading team and back office to improve trading practices and enhance customer service.
• Participate in weekly trading calls, sharing insights based on comprehensive analysis.
• Engage in negotiations and build relationships with local suppliers.
• Follow up on contracted deliveries and assess take-up results.

Qualifications

• A university degree in Economics or a relevant field with a focus on trading is preferred.
• Proficiency in both English and Spanish; additional languages are advantageous.
• Sound knowledge of trading platforms, particularly Fintrade.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong customer service skills, along with practical experience in data management tools and office software.
• Able to thrive in a fast-growing environment, maintaining motivation and actively contributing to business expansion and success.
• Willingness to travel as required.
