IP Engineer

Position Overview

In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the advancement of the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy. Your focus will include invention mining, assisting in patent drafting, conducting prior art searches, and managing the portfolio. Close collaboration will be required with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure effective protection of innovations and alignment with business goals.

This opportunity is based in Baden, Switzerland, under the guidance of the General Counsel.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
• Conduct prior art searches and provide analysis on patentability and freedom-to-operate.
• Assist in both internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
• Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on the status of the portfolio.
• Monitor competitor patents and trends in the industry related to IP.
• Support litigation, licensing, and enforcement of IP as required.
• Provide training to engineers regarding IP awareness and best practices.
• Collaborate with R&D teams based in the U.S. and China.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Familiarity with patent systems in key jurisdictions such as the US, EP, and CN.
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills.
• Experience using patent search tools.
• Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is an advantage.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin.
