Join Our Team as an Intermediate Structural Engineer

We are excited to introduce an opportunity for a highly qualified individual to become a pivotal member of our engineering team in Bern, Switzerland. In this specialized role, you will focus on structural engineering, compliance verification, and review of mass timber and timber-hybrid structures intended for the U.S. market, while also supporting European partners expanding into North America.

Your Contributions

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing detailed structural design under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participating in delivering medium to large-sized projects across all design and construction phases.
  • Acting as project manager for small to medium-sized projects throughout all stages.
  • Coordinating ongoing communication with design consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Applying knowledge of U.S. codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, NDS, AISC 303, and ACI 318.
  • Ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of project deliverables.
  • Building positive relationships with clients while promoting our core values.
  • Contributing to the technical knowledge resources of the team.
  • Engaging in creative and innovative problem-solving.
  • Acting as a role model and mentor to junior engineers and BIM technicians.
  • Working collaboratively within a passionate, focused, and dynamic team environment.
  • Fostering a fun and welcoming workplace culture.

Your Qualifications

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in the residential, commercial, municipal, and institutional sectors.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration, ideally in CA, OR, or WA, or eligibility for accreditation within 6 months.
  • The capability to work autonomously within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as RFEM, S-Concrete, or Sizer.

Additional Strengths

While not required, the following experiences and qualifications would be considered beneficial:

  • Well-rounded knowledge in designing with timber, steel, and concrete.
  • Understanding and experience in seismic analysis and design.
  • Experience in commercial, residential, and/or institutional projects.
  • A Master’s degree in structural engineering.
  • Working knowledge of performance-based design under American codes and standards.
