Your Role
We seek a driven and analytical individual passionate about technology and innovation. You will evaluate new ideas and analyze competitive patent landscapes, all while coordinating patent activities with both internal and external partners to strengthen and protect our innovation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute IP-based technology landscape exercises across various industry domains and present the findings to the relevant project teams or business units.
- Perform evaluations of new ideas and novelty searches, discussing the results with the respective inventors.
- Become familiar with the patent application and prosecution process within the organization and take on a coordinating role, serving as the primary contact for the external patent attorney office.
- Support the engineering and sales teams, as well as legal counsel, in IP-related contract negotiations (e.g., development agreements, license agreements, tech-transfer agreements, confidential disclosure agreements).
- Organize and execute competition patent analyses in collaboration with specific business units.
- Conduct IP checks on intended publications.
- Analyze the company’s patent portfolio and synthesize findings into actionable insights to inform strategic, technical, and business decisions.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or electrical) or science (physics or chemistry) with 2 to 5 years of experience in an industrial intellectual property environment.
- Strong patent search and analysis capabilities, with the ability to create technology landscapes and conduct novelty evaluations.
- Experience or aptitude for supporting contract negotiations, showcasing good negotiation skills.
- A desire to foster awareness about the importance of intellectual property within the organization, demonstrating training and communication skills.
- A passion for technology and innovation.
- Analytical, communicative, and driven personality.
- Excellent collaboration skills, able to achieve results through various channels.
- Fluency in English at C2 level, with proficiency in German considered advantageous.
Additional Information
While patent attorney degrees are accepted, this role is not intended to function as a patent attorney. Patent drafting and prosecution are managed externally through our collaboration with outside patent law firms.
