Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enhance the site’s biosafety management system in alignment with Swiss regulations (ESV, SAMV, GTG).
• Ensure adherence to Biosafety Levels 1–4 within laboratory and production environments.
• Conduct thorough risk assessments related to biological agents and genetically modified organisms (GMOs), establishing appropriate containment measures.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for local authorities, including the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and cantonal bodies.
• Prepare and submit necessary regulatory notifications and permit applications.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes to guarantee continuous compliance.
• Design and deliver comprehensive biosafety training programs for employees.
• Conduct inspections and audits, ensuring follow-up on corrective actions.
• Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams, including Research & Development, production, and site management.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• MSc or PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
• Several years of hands-on experience in a regulated environment dealing with biological agents.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss biosafety regulations (ESV, SAMV, GTG).
• Proven experience in regulatory affairs and collaboration with authorities.
• Solid grasp of biosafety levels (BSL 1–4) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience in GMP/GLP environments is an advantage.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence and counsel stakeholders.
• Self-driven, organized, and proactive approach to work.
• Fluency in German is mandatory, with proficiency in English also required.
