About the Opportunity

Starting on 1 June 2026, an exciting leadership role is available in Basel-Stadt, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact within an inclusive and thriving educational environment. This position operates at a 100% contract level on a permanent basis.

Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe, secure, and inclusive learning environments for all students.
  • Promote a culture of care, respect, and student wellbeing across the Secondary School.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the Secondary curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, implementation, and review across all Secondary year levels.
  • Lead the administration, analysis, and communication of internal and external assessments.
  • Monitor student progress, identify trends, and drive school improvement.
  • Oversee reporting cycles, target setting, and progress review processes.
  • Line manage key Secondary leadership roles and oversee performance management.
  • Support professional development planning and delivery.
  • Manage Secondary School budgets in collaboration with Finance and senior leadership.
  • Oversee resources, including learning materials and educational technology.
  • Foster strong relationships with parents and carers, being a visible and approachable leader.
  • Support admissions processes for Secondary Years and student transitions.
  • Contribute to whole-school strategic planning and priorities.
  • Support accreditation, inspection, and compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with other senior leaders to enhance school initiatives.

Essential Skills and Attributes

  • Proven experience in senior secondary leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and data-informed practice.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm, solution-oriented approach to challenges.
  • High level of cultural competence and ability to thrive internationally.
  • Strong digital competence, especially with Google Workspace.
  • Approachable, professional, and values-driven leadership style.
  • Must be eligible to pass all required police and safeguarding checks.
  • Fluency in English; a good command of German is advantageous.
  • Must hold a valid work permit for Switzerland.
