Role Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists for a highly experienced textile visionary to lead the Apparel & Accessories division within a dynamic space. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader, profoundly knowledgeable about cutting-edge material innovations and their application in high-performance activewear. This pivotal role will influence the direction of our design DNA as it relates to material and trims language in product development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage, and build the Material Development and Sourcing team structure, ensuring scalability for the future.
  • Manage all product and material types across apparel and accessories in both synthetic and natural fibers.
  • Ensure quality and durability in relation to material functionality alongside aesthetic values.
  • Drive each collection from design concept handover through delivery, enhancing calendar efficiency and ensuring clear communication with suppliers and cross-functional partners.
  • Prepare and lead material presentations to commercial partners to support product showcases.
  • Align material development with sustainability targets and cost considerations to meet business objectives.
  • Build and oversee a material testing process to foster manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Draft, validate, and manage a comprehensive material development structure from design concept through to bulk production.
  • Lead the material innovation pipeline and collaborate with suppliers to co-create innovative materials.
  • Guide price negotiations in partnership with the sourcing team and identify new potential suppliers to support local sourcing strategies.
  • Explore opportunities through fiber content, product and material innovation, and sustainability related to circularity and upcycling.
  • Train and build an exceptional team while cultivating a culture of curiosity, learning, and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Textile R&D, Engineering, or Technology.
  • 15+ years of experience in a material/textile related field within consumer products, with a focus on apparel.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading and developing teams.
  • Willingness to travel globally for sourcing, creation trips, and supplier meetings.
  • Experience in product and project management with the capacity to present to diverse groups.
  • Expertise in material costing and cost engineering.
  • Technical expertise in textiles complemented by a creative vision and a proactive attitude.
  • Strong collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills with emotional intelligence.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to manage change in a fast-paced, high-growth business environment.
  • A deep passion for product development.
  • Diplomatic and open mindset, coupled with superior communication and presentation skills in English.
