Role Overview

In a pivotal leadership capacity, you will guide a high-performing data engineering team while directly shaping the foundation on which data science, business intelligence, and data products are built. Your role will be instrumental in building and scaling the data infrastructure that powers Switzerland’s leading real estate platforms, including homegate.ch, immoscout24.ch, and flatfox.ch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead SMG’s Real Estate vertical’s data platform engineering team, empowering and coaching a high-caliber team of data engineers.
• Define the long-term vision for our data infrastructure and translate it into a focused, actionable roadmap.
• Ensure the data foundation is performant, scalable, and compliant with data protection and security standards.
• Deliver performant, monitored, and SLO-driven pipelines using a modern data stack.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with engineering teams, product managers, data scientists, and analysts to guide the roadmap.

Qualifications

Your expertise should include:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with a strong track record of technical competence.
• 1+ years of leadership or team management experience, ideally within a data engineering context.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on expertise in cloud-based data infrastructure, pipelines, data warehousing, and orchestration tools.
• Experience with building modern data platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Experience in developing machine learning platforms, including ML model deployment is a plus.
