European Quantitative Power Analyst

Your Role

In this position, you will play a crucial role in shaping trading strategies across European electricity markets by delivering high-impact analytical insights. Operating within the Global Gas and Power team, you will combine both fundamental and statistical analysis to support decision-making in a dynamic trading environment.

Our Team

Koch Minerals & Trading (KM&T) is a commodity trading business with offices in Geneva, London, and other locations worldwide, actively engaged across energy, metals, and freight markets. The Global Gas and Power team focuses on providing analytical insights that enhance trading strategy and market understanding throughout European electricity markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead fundamental analysis of European power markets.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance supply and demand (S&D) stack models.
• Provide analytical insights to support trading strategies and identify new opportunities.
• Manage and improve data inputs and sources for power market analysis.
• Support and maintain fundamental research on European electricity markets.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in European power market fundamental analysis or demonstrated ability to develop comparable market insights.
• Experience working with FBMC power stack models.
• Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and their applications.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of and ability to apply weather fundamentals in power markets.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Economics).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience translating analytical insights into commercial or trading strategy impact.
• Familiarity with European electricity market structures and interconnections.
• Experience working in a fast-paced trading or commodities environment.
