Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain EHS management systems across all projects.
  • Ensure adherence to Mercury Engineering Safety Management System and relevant statutory provisions.
  • Develop task-specific method statements, risk assessments, safe working plans, and permits to work.
  • Ensure compliance with the project safety statement and coordination of project safety indicators.
  • Oversee ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments and manage hazardous substances.
  • Conduct regular site audits and inspections; document findings and implement corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Provide input and reports on EHS risks during site meetings, advocating for constructive actions.
  • Advise management, safety representatives, and employees on all EHS matters.
  • Ensure availability of records for statutory inspections related to project activities, tools, and plant.
  • Foster a proactive approach towards project EHS requirements and manage site induction and training.
  • Facilitate Toolbox talks and assist in timely accident investigation reporting.
  • Oversee welfare and hygiene facilities, ensuring they are managed and maintained effectively.
  • Coordinate with project management on EHS issues, ensuring updated documentation is included in safety files.
  • Sustain waste reduction and recycling programs in alignment with project policies.

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant third-level Certificate qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety.
  • A minimum of three years of site experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current environmental, health, and safety legislation.
  • Flexibility in work patterns as necessary.
  • Capability to manage all environmental, health, and safety issues efficiently on site.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently with robust interpersonal and communication skills.
