Role Overview

The individual in this strategic leadership position will play a vital role in creating personalized, inclusive, and appropriately challenging learning experiences for all students. This leadership role encompasses oversight of a robust learning support system, English as an Additional Language (EAL) services, and other allied services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Program Development:
    • Lead and align Student Support Services across campuses to ensure equitable access and high-quality delivery.
    • Oversee the admissions process for students with previously identified learning variations.
    • Conduct regular campus visits and program reviews to maintain coherence across divisions.
    • Promote best practices in inclusion, challenge, and wellness.
    • Design school-wide systems for tracking individual learner needs.
  • Challenge & Differentiation Leadership:
    • Develop an inclusive framework for engaging high-ability students.
    • Embed differentiated practices across grade levels through coaching and curriculum design.
    • Collaborate with curriculum leaders to integrate challenge into planning and pedagogy.
  • Educational Data & Evidence-Informed Practice:
    • Build systems for gathering and analyzing learning data for informed decision-making.
    • Partner with leaders to ensure data systems contribute to long-term school improvement.
  • Leadership of Personnel & Operations:
    • Supervise and appraise student support faculty and program leaders.
    • Coordinate professional development focused on inclusive education and social-emotional wellbeing.
    • Manage departmental budget and resources across programs.
  • Communication, Collaboration, and Community Engagement:
    • Serve as a collaborative leader, engaging regularly with support staff, faculty, and families.
    • Ensure clear communication regarding strategic plans and program updates.
    • Maintain the Student Support section of the ZIS website.
    • Cultivate a network of local specialists to enhance services with external expertise.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Expertise in differentiated instruction, inclusion, and curriculum leadership across PreSchool to Grade 12.
  • Proven leadership experience in international school contexts.
  • Understanding of Universal Design for Learning and multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Experience designing educational data systems.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and adult learning skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and digital literacy capabilities.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education (or a specialist certification) with a minimum of five years of leadership experience preferred.
