Role Overview
The Deputy Principal for Grades 11–12 is a crucial leadership position focused on guiding students through their academic and personal development as they approach graduation and explore post-secondary pathways. This role emphasizes the importance of balancing rigorous academic demands (IB, AP) with student well-being, providing guidance to both students and educators during these pivotal years.
As a vital member of the 6–12 leadership team, the Deputy Principal works towards fostering cohesion across the division while addressing the distinct pressures, expectations, and opportunities of the concluding years of education.
Key Functions
- Developmental Leadership: Model balance and resilience, ensuring that academic rigor is coupled with care and belonging.
- Alignment and Coherence: Collaborate with other Deputy Principals to maintain alignment in curriculum, policies, values, and division-wide priorities.
- Academic Leadership (IB, AP): Oversee the implementation of the IB Diploma, AP, and other advanced programs, ensuring consistency with school expectations and international standards.
- Professional Growth and Evaluation: Support and evaluate a defined group of teachers in Grades 11–12, promoting professional reflection, collaboration, and high-quality instruction.
- Post-Secondary Readiness: Work with Futures Pathway Advisors to assist in post-secondary planning, application timelines, and student transitions, ensuring strong preparation for future endeavors.
- Operational and Community Leadership: Serve as the main contact for faculty, parents, and students in Grades 11–12 and oversee key events to ensure effective execution aligned with our mission.
- Proximity to Daily Life: Engage in daily operations to ensure quality, consistency, and timely support while balancing immediate needs with strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Preferred 5 years of relevant experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
