Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate civil work packages, including subcontractor onboarding, environmental health and safety (EHS), quality assurance and quality control (QAQC), scheduling, design, and handover.
- Oversee site safety with contractors, project managers, and safety advisors, managing the setup and closing out of subcontractor files.
- Collaborate on quality assurance activities with contractors, project managers, and QAQC leads to ensure compliance and site documentation is managed effectively.
- Manage project schedules in alignment with contractors and project management teams to meet engineering and client requirements.
- Handle commercial aspects of the project package, including labor, materials, equipment, variations, and valuations, with assistance from the project quantity surveyor (QS).
- Oversee daily site operations and liaise with project stakeholders, including clients, main contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications and the QA plan throughout installation activities.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of construction work packages and oversee validations and handovers to clients.
- Review and oversee design specifications and coordinate information for installation drawings, managing technical queries as necessary.
- Monitor subcontractor activities, ensuring project schedules and staffing levels are maintained, with regular minuted meetings to track progress.
- Ensure all subcontractor documentation, including safety records, is up-to-date and systematically filed.
- Attend site, internal project, and engineering review meetings, contributing to planning and coordination efforts.
- Assist with project deliverables closure, ensuring documentation such as final accounts, manuals, and safety files are completed effectively.
- Provide regular progress reports to project management, highlighting completion percentages and any potential risks affecting the project timeline.
- Issue external weekly updates on project status, noting delays, design shortages, and any other impacting factors.
- Track and report safety statistics and labour projections on a weekly basis, maintaining clear communication with the time administration team.
- Prepare tender packages for subcontractors and suppliers in collaboration with the project QS.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier tenders for technical compliance with design specifications.
- Conduct weekly commercial meetings to address variations and track costs effectively.
- Develop and implement procedures in collaboration with project managers to ensure meticulous change management.
- Review design and as-built drawings for accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Maintain a photographic diary of the project on a weekly basis.
- Ensure strict adherence to Mercury’s policies and procedures throughout all project activities.
- Create contractor snag lists and monitor closeout rates to align with project KPIs.
- Perform all additional duties relevant to the position as required.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a recognized contractor in a relevant field.
- Exceptional organizational and planning abilities.
- Strong teamwork skills combined with the capability to work independently.
- Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making aptitude.
- Proficiency in engineering-related software systems.
- Outstanding IT skills, including familiarity with project planning software such as Primavera and CAD/BIM processes.
- Ability to manage competing workloads and priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
