About the Role

As part of the Corporate Communication & Public Affairs team, you will contribute to strengthening SMG’s reputation through clear, consistent, and impactful communication. Working closely with the Head of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, you will engage in a broad range of corporate communication topics, particularly focusing on media relations and financial communications. Your collaboration will extend to internal communications and select strategic projects, involving partnerships with Investor Relations, Senior Management, and Communication Managers from our various Business Units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of corporate communication strategies and concepts aligned with SMG’s business objectives.
  • Manage media relations activities, including media enquiries, media monitoring, press releases, statements, Q&As, and spokesperson activities.
  • Oversee media relations and PR activities for SMG’s Finance & Insurance business, collaborating with relevant business stakeholders.
  • Assist in financial communications in close partnership with Investor Relations, including annual and half-year results as well as the Annual Report and AGM.
  • Support the positioning of C-level executives through key messages, speaking points, presentations, and communication content.
  • Facilitate internal communications on Group-wide topics, adapting content for the relevant internal target groups and channels.
  • Contribute to communication efforts for Group-wide strategic topics and projects, such as sustainability and cybersecurity.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and partners as required, fostering strong internal stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate communications, focusing on media relations and a strong understanding of the Swiss media landscape.
  • Experience in financial and capital markets communications, complemented by excellent writing and editorial skills.
  • Proven ability to translate complex topics into clear and audience-oriented communication.
  • Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and handling sensitive or time-critical communication topics.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple topics and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Pragmatic, hands-on, and collaborative working style, emphasizing reliability and quality.
  • Fluency in both German and English, written and spoken, is mandatory.
