Global Commodity Strategy and Supplier Management

This strategic role within a complex, matrix organisation focuses on executing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering improvements across cost, performance, and supply continuity. Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of global commodity strategies for direct materials and production-related components.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including market analysis, RFx, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management.
- Develop and manage relationships with strategic and key suppliers, ensuring quality, cost competitiveness, and continuity of supply.
- Drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives using benchmarking, market analysis, and total cost of ownership approaches.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams on demand planning, design changes, and product lifecycle management.
- Support supplier consolidation, dual-sourcing, and supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
- Develop and manage supplier agreements, preferred supplier lists, KPIs, and SLAs.
- Monitor supplier performance and support corrective action plans where required.
- Work closely with regional and site procurement teams to ensure alignment between global strategy and local execution.
- Ensure sourcing strategies align with sustainability, compliance, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Contribute to budget planning, forecasting, and longer-term commodity strategies.
Professional Profile
- 5+ years of procurement experience, with a focus on direct materials procurement within manufacturing.
- Experience within a Buyer, Commodity Manager, Category Manager, or similar procurement position.
- Experience managing direct material commodities, including components, assemblies, raw materials, or similar.
- Experience working within a multinational or matrix organisation.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- The confidence to influence stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain.
- A structured, data-driven, and pragmatic approach.
- Strong supplier management and relationship-building skills.
- The ambition to develop within a broader global procurement environment.
- Willingness to work across international teams and travel when required.
