Overview

This senior leadership position requires a strategic integrator and transformation leader to drive scalable, data-driven growth across the complex multi-country region of Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). The role involves comprehensive ownership of the commercial strategy and operational planning across all Orthopaedics Business Units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the comprehensive commercial strategy and operational execution for Orthopaedics in the CEE region, ensuring alignment with EMEA and global priorities.
  • Function as the primary business integrator across Finance, Supply Chain, Commercial, Marketing, and Operations, utilizing a robust Integrated Business Planning (IBP/S&OP) framework to produce aligned, decision-grade plans.
  • Translate EMEA and global strategy into CEE-specific priorities, investment decisions, and multi-year execution roadmaps, taking into account market realities and customer needs.
  • Oversee portfolio prioritization and lifecycle management, including new product introduction sequencing, focus portfolio execution, and end-of-life recommendations.
  • Drive pricing, positioning, and value strategy execution, ensuring adherence to EMEA governance and establishing clear value narratives for commercial decision-making.
  • Own the strategic digital transformation agenda for commercial operations in CEE, enhancing commercial models, pipeline governance, and digital capabilities for scalable growth.
  • Ensure robust alignment between commercial strategy, professional education, and commercial education, supporting product launches and digital initiatives.
  • Provide regional oversight for market-facing activities, such as congresses, promotions, and customer engagement events, ensuring compliance and measurable commercial impact.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing matrixed leadership team, fostering a performance culture consistent with corporate values and leadership imperatives.
  • Act as the key CEE representative in EMEA strategy, planning, and transformation forums, ensuring strong alignment and effective execution.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Experience

  • Extensive leadership experience in commercial strategy, marketing, sales operations, or business planning.
  • Proven track record in cross-functional planning and governance using IBP/S&OP or equivalent frameworks.
  • Strong influence in matrix organizations across multiple countries and markets.
  • Experience in MedTech and/or Orthopaedics is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including management of senior stakeholders and direct reports.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strategic mindset with an ability to convert strategy into measurable execution outcomes.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with effective planning and governance orientation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at the senior leadership level.
  • Capability to lead change, with a focus on digital transformation.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel 30–40%, both domestically and internationally within CEE and EMEA.

Johnson & Johnson is in the process of separating its Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone entity, DePuy Synthes, expected to be completed within 18 to 24 months. Upon acceptance of this role, it is anticipated that, post-transaction, your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes policies, processes, and benefit plans, with further details provided in due course.
