Role Overview

The Category Manager plays a pivotal role in formulating and executing sourcing strategies for Category Manufacturing & Technology, which encompasses Capex Equipment, Manufacturing Tools, Hard Services, and Technology Engineering Services. This position fosters alignment with business objectives, enhances supplier performance, and ensures long-term value for Accelleron through cost efficiency, innovation, and process excellence. The successful candidate will integrate into the Indirect Materials & Services team within the Value Chain organization in Baden, working closely with the Global Category Manager Manufacturing and Technology, as well as collaborating with the investment team and factory leadership across the global value chain.

Your Responsibilities

  • Strategy:
    • Define and manage sourcing strategies for Category Manufacturing & Technology and key suppliers.
    • Act as a proactive partner, engaging divisions, functions, and service network countries early in the sourcing process.
    • Establish clear governance on roles and responsibilities for sourcing categories.
    • Participate in enhancing indirect processes to amplify the value of the Indirect Material & Services function.
  • Performance:
    • Set and monitor value targets, emphasizing cost, efficiency, and process enhancement.
    • Utilize tools and tactics such as spend analysis, KPIs, SLAs, and vendor performance monitoring.
  • Vendor Management:
    • Lead supplier relationship management for innovation, cost savings, and specification/process improvements.
    • Conduct vendor evaluations to ensure performance standards are met.
    • Manage vendor agreement lifecycles and maintain appropriate documentation.
    • Implement proactive sourcing activities aligned with IM&S Policy, including market analysis and contracting.
    • Collaborate effectively with business owners, Finance, Legal, HSE, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure timely and compliant approvals in designated systems.

Your Background

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, ideally in IM&S categories.
  • Experience in the machinery or metal manufacturing industry is beneficial, particularly with advanced technologies such as metal cutting techniques.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Expertise in supplier relationship management and performance monitoring.
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional alignment and act as a trusted partner to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, managing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven, pragmatic approach.
  • Team player with high motivation, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Fluency in both English and German (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency with procurement tools, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
